1 Service Group – Website design + build to unify three specialist divisions under one brand (1 Fire, 1 Water, 1 Mech)

Partner: Squid Digital
Overview:
1 Service Group needed a modern website that clearly communicates who they are and what they do—with a particular focus on the infrastructure sector and “essential services” maintenance. The challenge was to bring three distinct service streams into one cohesive experience:
  • 1 Fire (Fire Protection)
  • 1 Water (Plumbing / Water services)
  • 1 Mech (Mechanical Air)
They also wanted the site to reflect their credibility in high-stakes environments where safety, uptime, and compliance are non-negotiable, and to showcase their positioning as a trusted partner for critical infrastructure.
Focus: Bring together 1 Fire, 1 Water, and 1 Mech into a single, clear website experience that builds trust and clearly communicates 1 Service Group’s capability in maintaining essential services and critical infrastructure.

The Challenge

When a business operates across multiple disciplines, websites often fall into one of two traps:
  1. confusing navigation (“Where do I click?”), or
  2. generic marketing (“We do everything for everyone”).
For 1 Service Group, we needed to land a clean, confident structure that:
  • makes the three service lines instantly understandable (without splitting the brand),
  • supports specialist depth (fire certification, maintenance, plumbing maintenance, specialist services),
  • and speaks directly to the industries they serve (infrastructure, transport, utilities, venues/events).

Our Approach (Squid Digital)

  1. 1) Clear site architecture built around the “1 Fire / 1 Water / 1 Mech” model
The homepage immediately introduces the three divisions with simple pathways into each area—so users can self-select in seconds.

    2) Service pages that balance clarity + depth
We structured the Services section to communicate “end-to-end solutions” while still giving each discipline enough room to breathe—Fire Protection, Mechanical Air, and Plumbing—with supporting subpages where relevant (e.g., Fire Maintenance Services, Fire Certification Services, Plumbing Maintenance Services).

    3) Messaging aligned to their real-world environment
The site consistently speaks to infrastructure-grade expectations—compliance, reliability, and responsiveness—supported by their certifications and standards-led positioning (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).

    4) Specialist Services that show capability beyond “standard maintenance”
We made sure their higher-value specialist offerings were clearly presented—like fire pump maintenance and repairs and PFAS to fluorine-free system upgrades, which reinforces their role in complex, regulated environments (tunnels, metro, major infrastructure sites).

What We Delivered

A modern website experience that positions 1 Service Group as a single, unified operator with specialist depth:
  • A homepage that quickly communicates their positioning: “Your Trusted Partner in Exceptional Service Delivery” and their focus on maintenance of essential services for the infrastructure sector
  • Dedicated pages for Fire Protection, Mechanical Air, and Plumbing, each with scannable service breakdowns and “why choose us” trust cues
  • Supporting pages for compliance-heavy services like Fire Certification Services (including AFSS context and certifiable measures)
  • An Industries page that reinforces who they serve (infrastructure, transport/logistics, energy/utilities, entertainment/events)
  • Consistent contact pathways (including enquiry type by service stream) to reduce friction for prospective clients

Outcome

The result is a clean, cohesive digital presence that matches the maturity of the business:
  • One brand, clearly structured into three disciplines (1 Fire / 1 Water / 1 Mech)
  • Stronger positioning for infrastructure and critical environments (tunnels, rail, utilities, large sites)
  • Credibility reinforced through standards, safety, and compliance messaging—without the site feeling corporate or bloated
